How to become involved

CATE is a project that aims to facilitate the process of revisionary taxonomy on the web. If you would like to get involved with this project, there are several ways you can help:

Contribute to one of the demonstrator web-revisions

If you have an interest in one of the demonstrator groups: either the Aroids or Sphingids, please let us know what you think of our web revisions. In particular, if you belive that part of the web-revision is incorrect, or if you have data or images which you think would fill a gap in the revision, let us know.

You can let us know your opinion by subscribing to cate-araceae@forge.nesc.ac.uk or cate-sphingidae@forge.nesc.ac.uk respectively. Alternatively you can provide us with feedback on our Wiki.

Contribute your opinion about web-based unitary taxonomy

If you are interested in web-based taxonomy, please let us know what you think about CATE and our approach. CATE is an experimental project and aims to investigate the issues around publishing taxonomic revisions on the web.

You can let us know your ideas about how taxonomy can be carried out succesfully on the web by subscribing to cate-discuss@forge.nesc.ac.uk, or on our Wiki.

Check for bugs and problems with the software

One of the outputs of this project is a web-application that provides a platform for a web-revsion. Two examples of this software are the aroid and sphingid web-revisions. This software is under active development: if you find problems with the software, or think that the software could be improved, please let us know by submitting a bug.

Contribute code

The software produced by CATE is open-source. This means that the software and its source code are freely available. The software is hosted at the National e-Science Centre's gForge site. This website also contains documentation about the project.

If you would like to improve the software produced by CATE, please contact the developer.
